Freaked out when meeting two new dogs???

3h ago

We (husband and I) were walking our five month old pembroke Teio and we ran across two aussies. We asked if they were friendly and the man said yes! Teio started pulling and was wagging her tail and went up to meet the dogs, and I’m not sure what happened but they were all sniffing and suddenly she started screaming, like akin to a dying pig, SCREAMING. We picked her up immediately, she didn’t try to bite or anything but she kept screaming even as we held her. We apologized to the other guy (who was super cool about the whole thing) and to the doggies, gave them some belly rubs. Once we sat her back on the ground she was totally fine. Ears perked up, panting happily, walking with confide...

Was it all mu fault?

3h ago

A year ago in May I was faced with a hard decision, I've been begging my parents for a pet for a long time, and they finally agreed. We went to a pet chain in Poland called kakadoo (it's a petsmarts but polish) and I saw a single albino mouse, she had been in that store for around 5-6 months because me and my best friend been visiting that store almost weekly to just look at the pets.. and I just could tell it was the same mouse, but the thing is I wanted 2 rodents, so i looked at different ones, but that little lady kept attracting my eye, and then I found out devastating news, the store was closing in a week. And then I found out most of the kakadoo stores in Poland are (there...

Live plants for tank

6h ago

Where do you guys get your plants from?? (Preferably online) I don't have a local pet store so I was trying to order them from the Petsmart app but they don't have the one's that I've seen are good for Goldfish. Or at least not many of the options I've seen

My third betta and guy looks juvie and omg he’s hyper for a half moon

22h ago

His name is Gena or Gennadiy. My husband got it for me. I got my first betta George on February 23rd 2024 so that would be almost two years but he passed away a week before our 2 years anniversary because of me being ****** and neglecting. Then I got another betta koi plakaat but he was super shy and scared all the time it was unreal I even couldn’t feed him. My attempts spiked my ammonia because it was too much food to try to feed him that I couldn’t remove because it was sinkable since Little guy didn’t want to go up for pellets. I donated him to a small local pet store(not PetSmart or Petco like). Then my husband went to another local fishroom with a crazy professional setup and Fa...

A long, long story about Pascal and what I went through learning to take care of him properly

1d ago

I wanted to share the journey I’ve been through with my chameleon, Pascal. It hasn’t been perfect- far from it. It’s very messy. There were a lot of mistakes, times of learning, and a lot of moments where I had to completely rethink what I thought I knew. But through all of it, I’ve learned so much about chameleon care and about what it really means to take responsibility for an animal you love. I’m hoping that by sharing this, it might help or inspire someone else who is still figuring things out too. Pascal came to the Petco I formerly worked at in December of 2024. His health was not the best because of Petco’s poor caretaking, and he was honestly probably very close to dying...

An untamed possible hormonal, possible molting 2yr old conure?

1d ago

My backstory to explain why I made this decision. Skip to the next paragraph if the post is too long. I've been watching videos and reading about conures for 2 years. I was going to get a conure from a local woman. I had everything I needed except for food. Then my best dog got diagnosed with an incurable cancer. I put my conure quest on hold and gave my Penny the best year and a half I could give her. We watched and learned all about conures together. She passed two months ago and I need to channel my grief and turn into love for another rescue. I went into my new local petsmart for dog treats. I wasn't planning on getting an older untamed conure but I couldn't...

Late Night Petsmart Customer

1d ago

\* VERY LONG IM SORRY I work two jobs, at a Shangri La dispensary(full time) and a Petsmart(part time). I’m pulling 55hrs a week. So this situation stressed me out so bad I ended the night screaming and crying, literally. I don’t even know what time this happened but this lady’s husband comes in asking if we have motorized carts. “No sir we do not.” I say “Do you know of a pet store that has them near by?” He asks Also no. He asks to speak to a manager. Manager comes over, he asks her the same question. She gives the same answer. He leaves. He comes back five minutes later frantic af and says he needs a chair. Saying his wife was insisting on coming inside and is now st...

Heating Issues

Hello everyone, brand new owner of a wonderful corn snake named Elote as of yesterday! I've had a bearded dragon in the past, but this is my first time owning a snake and maybe I'm being overly cautious, but wanted to be sure of a few things. I've been having trouble getting her hot side of the enclosure hot enough. The store I bought pretty much everything from including the snake (it's a local store in DFW, not PetSmart or anything) at first recommended a 50 watt basking bulb, when I first started prepping a year ago. When I went in yesterday to finally get the snake, they recommended I should actually get a 75 watt bulb, which I did. However once I got everything set...

Petco ball pythons

2d ago

Obviously everybody in this community should know to NEVER ever shop at petco or petsmart for live animals. Always support local businesses or reliable sellers on morph market. Had to get prescription food for my cat and saw this and a couple other poor dehydrated babies. If anybody is a new ball python owner please do not take care advice from these big chain stores. Last photo I included from a random google review to show the bedding.

Is this too much money to start or no?

3d ago

So im starting to save up to get a hamster from scratch (I had a hamster at 16-18 and I didn’t know at the time that the petsmart cages they sell was bad. (I am thinking of getting the smaller Bucatstate home because the bigger one won’t fit in my room (I will still have to get rid of 3-4 furnitures and move my queen sized bed over to fit it) so the prices may change) but so far if my calculations are correct it will cost around $1,000 to start and that doesn’t include the main food and a new furniture to put it on and store the stuff in. (Link to see why everything will costs so much: [ https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/UYCJQKLJR99D?ref\_=cm\_sw\_r\_mwn\_ggr-subnav-sha...

local vets tolerant of non-mainstream pet foods

3d ago

I am looking for a new vet that is not only closer to where I live in College Hill/Friendly St area, but that is also tolerant of non-mainstream brands of pet food as long as they are nutritionally sound. My current vet office has competent vets, but they’re all older and more traditional, and only recommend 3 brands of food that are all owned by pretty hideous parent companies (i.e. Nestle and Purina). They refer to anything not from the grocery store or PetSmart as “boutique foods” and sometimes assume I’m a ***** that doesn’t read labels or understand them. I’d like a bit more flexibility in the treatment of my aging cats while still mostly staying in the realm of standard v...

New Betta Fish

4d ago

Hello! First of all, I’d like to express my gratitude for this community. Since I got Toothless, this community has been a huge help! I first got Toothless (Black Crowntail betta) on Friday 20th of last month (Feb. 2026). I admit that I committed the enormous mistake of not researching about betta fish before buying him. All the info I got at first was from PetSmart employees (bad, I know). That day, I got a 3 gallon tank kit (which came with a filter, a thermometer, and a fake leaf for him to rest on), water conditioner, a heater, pellets and flakes. Then…I started researching and became baffled about the amount of information I missed on. After multiple google searches I’ve becom...

Recommendations for betta breeders or stores that deliver to Vancouver island?

4d ago

I’ve been trying to find local stores that sell healthy bettas and the only one near me is a PetSmart with sad sick bettas in a tiny cup :( The breeders that I’ve been looking at are also either no longer in business or on hiatus. I’d like to avoid international shipping. Does anyone know of any breeders in Canada that ship across the country?

Where to buy feeder dubia roaches or crickets in MKE?

4d ago

I have two tarantulas that are both finally getting large enough to take bigger prey like roaches, but I really really do not want to buy from petsmart or petco. Does anyone happen to know of locally owned exotic pet stores that sell feeders?? Or do any of you breed roaches for your own pets and would be cool with selling a few??

I got myself a triple stacked order yesterday morning.

4d ago

While heading to pickup from PETCO an order came in to go to Ulta for an additional 5 mi for $14.25. while shopping for the Ulta order, another offer popped in to go to Sally's beauty for an extra 3 mi and $10.25 very nice I was able to end my dash at 1pm. And yeah one of the PETCO orders were no tip...it was a single bottle of water conditioner treatment for a fish tank

Turning a bad situation into a good one! A "Movin' On Up" story

5d ago

Around a year ago, my 4 year old daughter was gifted a red crowntail betta by a family member. And yes, as you can probably guess, he came in a 1 gallon bowl, complete with neon gravel, fake plants, no heater and no filter. This simply would not stand! I got a hold of my mom who keeps about a dozen tanks, explained the situation, and she gifted us her used fluval flex 9 gallon tank; it was heaven for Chris the betta. My daughter and I spent the next year adding plants, trying new foods for him, and learning about keeping a healthy tank and fish, together. It reignited the passion I had for keeping fish as a kid, learning the same values from my parents. We now have 4 tanks! Her flex 9g ha...

Newbie- overwhelmed on this rabbit hole

5d ago

Hello everyone, I’ve just got a 10G tank, and have been ****** into all the research and going down the rabbit hole. Not going to lie, it’s a little overwhelming, and I feel like maybe I already mistakes. I got the starter kit at PetSmart on sale, and went with black gravel as that’s what I had as a kid with beta so it felt semi comfortable. I have never had plants and bought 3 at PetSmart but the selection was super sad and they looked almost dead- so that question #1. What is the best, most cost efficient way to get live plants to be able to fill and look amazing that aren’t from a commercial pet store that look dead. I don’t have any other decor but the 3 small plants for now. ...
