I noticed I had hundreds of small files related to games on my console storage. Apparently this was when a patch/DLC is downloaded to the designated installation location when the main game is located on another storage device. This makes sense as I have a 2tb SSD installed plus an external 8tb HDD for stored games and have recently added another 4tb external HDD as space was getting too low. Though obviously I can only use one HDD at once but it's not a huge deal. The fix was to transfer the games to console storage so the data merges.
